Half term activities

There are lots of free and low cost family-friendly activities taking place in Leicester over May half term.

Saturday 25 May

  • Bring the Paint Presents: Multibrush VR with MBD
    Immerse yourself in the boundless creativity using VR drawing app Multibrush!  Join Leicester-based storytellers MBD for an exciting hands-on virtual reality experience at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery. With the innovative VR drawing app Multibrush at your fingertips, the canvas becomes your playground!
  • Bring The Paint Street Art Festival
    Family friendly events including spray can upcycling workshop, demolition drawing derby activity, drop in DJ sessions and more 
  • Spring crafts
    Do it yourself activities including a treasure hunt, word searches and colouring.

Sunday 26 May

  • Bring the Paint Presents: Multibrush VR with MBD
  • Islamic Art: Family Ebru Workshop
    Come along and join artist Ferdous Hussein to make your very own ebru marbled paper. Ebru is an ancient Turkish method of marble painting and uses authentic, natural colours.
  • Open Streets
    Leicester’s ‘Open Streets’ is back to help encourage people to explore the city by walking, wheeling or cycling.

  • Arts and crafts workshop - make windmills and dreamcatchers
    • 12noon - 3pm at The Brite Centre

  • Arty party!
    Get creative and messy with all our arty materials this half term holiday! Bring along a t-shirt or a glass jar to decorate and enjoy the beautiful gardens as they burst into bloom.
    • 11am – 3pm at Belgrave Hall

  • Babies learning together
  • Farmyard crafts
    Come and make your own farmyard animal puppet or tractor, using the templates provided. As well as themed colouring sheets. 
  • Felt pet – sew your own felt pet
  • Funky feet wacky wheels
    Join us at Abbey Park for the return of Funky Feet and Wacky Wheels, a celebration of walking and cycling to mark the end of National Walking Month and the Walk Leicester Festival.  Bring the whole family for a day of fun activities, including decorating shoes, bikes, and scooters at the 'bling station,' prize giveaways, followed by a grand parade around The Oval.

    Take part in some wax resistant painting, make spoon puppets and paper swans

    Pop into the Cathedral and join in our crafty and creative fun. (Children must be accompanied at all times)
  • Commotion in the ocean
    Join us for a day beside the sea.  Meet a cast of fishy characters including Cali the larger than life octopus and his good friend Captain Barnacle, two friendly colourful Lion Fish on stilts named Lionel and Leona, plus their friends. There will be a free seaside-themed craft workshop to enjoy and a treasure trail to complete.
  • Discover in a Day!
    Calling all young adventurers aged 6-10 years - Join us for an unforgettable day of learning, crafting, and eco-conscious fun! Nupur Arts proudly presents Discover in a Day, in partnership with Leicester Museum & Art Gallery as part of our Eco Arts programme!
  • Forest school - stay and play
  • It’s clay time
    Come and play with clay at the Guildhall this half-term! Be inspired by the objects you see in the museum or bring your own ideas and create an item using air-drying clay, and other craft materials to take home. Follow the museums trail. Bring an apron, handwipes, and an empty ice cream tub, to carry your creation home.

  • Pop-up Museum at Haymarket Shopping Centre
    Join Leicester Museums at Haymarket Shopping Centre and discover museum objects in the Cabinet of Curioisities. Including a 6-million-year-old fossil, a taxidermy crocodile, a collection of insects and many more treasures to inspire curiosity and wonder!

  • Leicester Riverside Festival
