Holiday activities and food programme

The holiday activities and food programme provides children and young people who are eligible for free school meals with free activities and meals during the school holidays.

Our summer programme

The programme is free activity sessions for 4 hours, 4 days a week for 4 weeks - with lunch provided.  Some providers will be spreading the hours across more weeks during the holiday period.

The programme will take place over the following weeks.  Select a week to find out which providers are offering places.

Who can access the programme

The holiday activities and food programme is available to all children and young people who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.

Registration process

  • View the provider information and check that the programme is suitable for your child's age range
  • Complete the online registration form and choose:
    • The weeks you would like your child to take part in the holiday activities and food programme, and
    • the place you would like them to go
  • The local authority will check to see if your child is currently receiving free school meals
  • After the check, an email will be sent to either confirm that your child is:
    • eligible and which holiday activities and food programme your child can attend
    • not eligible and advise you of alternative food support programme

Programme places are offered on a first come first served basis.  Where a programme is full, you can apply to register with alternative providers. 

Not receiving free school meals?

If you have not currently applied for free school meals please note that we will process applications during the summer but this maybe too late for you to access the HAF programme.
