School holiday activities

The summer holiday in Leicester will take place between 12 July to 26 August 2021.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic all activities providers are required to follow national guidance and may offer a reduced service.

The out of school care providers who have indicated that they are able to offer holiday care can be found at:

Adventure playgrouds

Free sessions are available for children and young people at the adventure playgrounds across the city.

Registration is essential and places are limited.

Children, young people and family centres

The centres will be running a number of free activities for families to join in.  Full details will be available soon but in the meantime, their virtual activity webpages have ideas for you to try at home:

Heritage handbook - Leicester Museums & Galleries

Visiting museums as a family can support a child’s learning – especially if they have been finding out about a topic at school. If your child has been learning about any of these curriculum topics at schools, why not plan a visit to one of Leicester’s Museums this summer. View the Heritage Handbook [pdf file].

Summer Reading Challenge

Track down six amazing books and become a Wild World Hero this summer – stand up for the future of our planet by joining in a celebration of reading, nature and action for the environment.

To take part, visit your local library and sign up between Saturday 26 June and Tuesday 31 August. It’s all completely free and you will receive our specially designed A4 envelope full of goodies including; a Wilderville poster and stickers, a bookmark and, exclusive to Leicester City libraries, our ‘zine’ competition template.
