Monday 3 August

  • Leicester's play week
    National play day takes place on Wednesday 5 August 2026.  To celebrate this, we offer a play week across our Best Start Family Hubs. 
    • 10am to 12noon at St Matthews
    • 12noon to 3pm at Thurnby Lodge

Tuesday 4 August

  • Leicester Cathedral summer activities
    Enjoy free craft activities and family fun with a different theme each week. 
  • Leicester play week
    • 12noon to 3pm at Bewcastle
  • Read to the beat family fun
    Put on your best festival outfits and join us in celebrating the Summer Reading Challenge with a Festival themed Fun Day! Activities include crafts, music making and more!

Wednesday 5 August

  • Leicester's play day
    • 12noon to 3pm at Beaumont Leys
    • 1pm to 3pm at New Parks
  • Puppets and toys
    Come to Newarke Houses Museum to see our gallery of toys and games from the past. Make your own toys to take home with a fabulous craft pack that includes a sock puppet and a cup and ball game. Find the pictures of retro toys in our garden trail.
    • 12noon to 3pm at Newarke Houses
    • Crafts and activities, £4 per child pre-booked online, or £5 at the door.
  • Read to the beat family fun

Thursday 6 August

  • Cops ‘n’ Robbers
    A fun day of crafts and activities at Leicester Guildhall which was once Leicester’s first Police station. Make a police dog glove puppet, a cops ‘n’ robbers game and a Guildhall police hat. Throw sponges at your family in the stocks and find the pictures in the museum trail. 
    • 11am to 3pm at Leicester Guildhall
    • £4 Advance online for each participating child, £5 on the door, adults free.
  • Lego coding
    Combine computer coding with Lego in our Lego coding sessions.

Friday 7 August

    • 10am to 12noon at Braunstone Grove

Saturday 8 August

  • Lego coding club
    Make Lego move to music and explore Lego books.
  • Leicester food festival
    Try different foods at this festival centred around food. With a children cooking classes, circus school, fun fair and live music, a good day for the family to enjoy together
    • 11am to 10pm at Abbey Park

    • Tickets range between £0 (under 5s) to £11 (adults).

Sunday 9 August

  • Leicester food festival
    • 11am to 5.30pm at Abbey Park
    • Booking required
    • Tickets range between £0 (under 5s) to £14 (adults).
    • Booking fee applies.
  • 'Music at the Museum' with the Leicester Community Concert Band
    Bring your picnic blankets and chairs for a summer afternoon of live music in the grounds of Leicester’s historic Abbey Pumping Station.
