Monday 20 July

  • Get up and go!
    Take part in free activities for all the family with Leicester's children, young people centres. 
    • 10am to 12pm at St Matthews
    • 1pm to 3pm at

  • Make music from space materials
    Make music from Space materials with the National Space Centre, and create a collaborative space sound performance!
    • Sessions run between 1.30pm and 4pm at Central Library
    • Booking required
    • Ages 7+
  • Who stole my hammer?
    A storytelling theatre piece for children, Sail away with Myth-fits and hear how Thor, the God of Thunder, had to dress up as a beautiful bride to fool his enemies and save his friends

Tuesday 21 July

  • Flapping butterflies
    Colour and construct a butterfly, ready to flap it's wings around our Summer Fun Day.
  • Lego coding
    Boost your coding skills with fun activities with our Lego coding kits.
  • Leicester Cathedral summer activities
    Enjoy free craft activities and family fun with a different theme each week. 
  • Music themed crafts
    Make castanets a mini banjo or a musical stage scene.
  • Read to the beat family fun
    Put on your best festival outfits and join us in celebrating the Summer Reading Challenge with a Festival themed Fun Day! Activities include crafts, music making and more!
  • Wind chimes
    Create your own wind chimes.

Wednesday 22 July

  • Get up and go! 
  • Mask and flower crowns
    Create your own festival disguise or become a festival flower power child 
  • Storytime session
    Join in on the Summer Reading Challenge: Read to the Beat and enjoy storytime with friends and family.
  • Summer games, family fun day
    Celebrate this year’s Commonwealth Games with us at Newarke Houses Museum. Kids can make their own medal and flag, then take part in some games and races on the lawn. Explore the museum to find the pictures in our sporty trail.
    • 12noon to 3pm at Newarke Houses
    • Crafts and activities, £4 per child pre-booked online, or £5 at the door.

  • Archaeology fun day
    Become an archaeologist for the day! Make your own archaeologist’s hat, trowel and ID badge and have a go at digging up some pictures of treasure in our dig trays. Find the pictures of uncovered artefacts around the museum and then discover the actual items in our galleries.
    • 11am – 3pm at Leicester Guildhall
    • Tickets: £4 Advance online for each participating child, £5 on the door, adults free.

Saturday 25 July

  • Bike Fest
    Experience the thrill of cycling on a traffic-free circuit at the Leicester Cycle Circuit.  This event is open to all ages and abilities. Whether you’re a child on a balance bike or a grandparent rediscovering the joy of cycling, everyone is welcome. Brought to you by Leicester City Council, Ride Leicester and British Cycling.
