  • By the beaver pool - Meet the author
    Catherine Ward will read her book 'By the Beaver Pool', which is a selected title for the Summer Reading Challenge.  Catherine will  share interesting facts about beavers, their families and their habitats.

    Get creative and join in with a range of drop in and bookable Story Garden activities - and don't forget to borrow a book!

    Take part in free activities for all the family with Leicester's children, young people centres

    Decorate your own plant pot and seed tag and take away a seed to plant in your pot at home.

    Make your own junk robot to link up with the Wild Robot series by Peter Brown.

    Crafts session themed around the Summer Reading Challenge Story Garden, including a book flutterby and a 3D garden scene
  • Young storytellers club course
    Learn to be a storyteller free 4 week course.  Perfect for young performers!

  • Crafting at the Haymarket
    Take part in the free STOMP and jungle themed crafting for all in the Community Hub and make a yarn bird.

    Crafts session based on the Summer Reading Challenge.

    • Theme of the day: Snail sitting on a leaf
  • Wizard of Oz
    Come and celebrate 125 years of this much-loved story with us at Newarke Houses. Make a lion mask, a mini scarecrow and a tin man puzzle. Follow the yellow brick road trail around the gardens to find your favourite characters from the Land of Oz.
    • 12noon to 3pm at Newarke Houses
    • Child (under 16) £4 online in advance, £5 at the door.
    • Dressing up welcome.

Thursday 31 July

  • Calling all Superheroes
    Bring your little superheroes to the Guildhall to save our city from the baddies. Make a mini hero, a superhero game and a fantastic hat. Follow the trail around the museum to find your heroes. Dress up as your favourite superhero!
    • 11am to 3pm at Leicester Guildhall
    • £4 online for participating children, £5 on the door, adults free.

  • Design an elephant
    Creative session to design your own unique elephant. Be inspired by ‘Elmer and Friends’ and the ‘Stomp Round Leicester’ elephants to design your own unique elephant. It could be all about you and your favourite things, your family, your home. Make a couple of elephants and join them together into a trail.

  • Kev F Sutherland's comic art masterclass
    To celebrate the re-launch of the Jewry Wall join Kev for a comic art masterclass - all about the Romans!

    Come enjoy the amazing carnival with the family.  Watch the parade and enjoy four live music stages with a variety of performances.
