    Take part in free activities for all the family with Leicester's children, young people centres
  • National Space Centre - Eco-explore
    Become an eco-explorer wuth the National Space Centre. Discover how plants grow on earth and beyond, exploring the possibilities of life across the universe.

    Enjoy summer holiday craft activities with a different theme each week.  
    • Drop in between 10am and 12noon; 2pm and 4pm at Leicester Cathedral
    • Theme of the week: Cathedral grotesques

  • Railway days
    Come and enjoy a ride on the diesel driven Narrow Gauge Railway this summer!  Bring a picnic to enjoy in the wonderful museum grounds.

  • Crafting at the Haymarket
    Take part in the free STOMP and jungle themed crafting for all in the Community Hub and make a 3D paper collage patchwork elephant.

  • Roman activity day
    Make your own card Roman soldier helmet and other Roman themed crafts. Dig for Roman artefacts in our children’s dig tray or follow the museum trail.

  • Story Garden Crafts
    Crafts session based on the Summer Reading Challenge.

  • Toy time fun!
    Bring the kids to the Guildhall to make some toys from the past. Your craft pack includes a cup and ball game, a Mr. Potato puzzle and lolly-stick puppets inspired by things you can see around the museum. Then perform your own puppet show in a table-top puppet theatre.

  • Create your own storybook
    Free creative session to make your own storybook. Learn how to fold a sheet of paper into a booklet, then be inspired by the ‘Elmer and Friends’ exhibition to write and illustrate your own short story.

  • Mini archaeologists day!
    Be inspired by the objects on display in our medieval galleries and create your own clay pot and jewellery. There will also be a picture trail around the museum, and you can dig for buried treasure in the trays in the courtyard.
