Our early help offer
A wide range of early help services are available at the centres to support families, with further support that may be available through an early help assessment.
Childhood services
Early years services for children under 5 and their families include:
- Advice and signposting (via walk in to centres)
- Family learning and child development programmes
- Antenatal courses (delivered in partnership with Health Visitors and Midwives)
- Bookstart corner (targeted reading sessions)
- Health Visitor clinics
- Midwifery clinics
- Stay and play (delivered in partnership with Health)
- Toy and book library
- Early Help Assessment: Targeted one to one support for families with young children who meet specific criteria
- Specialised Children Centre Teacher service
- Supporting parents to access volunteering opportunities and access to further education, training and employment
- School holiday programmes and events (age 0-12)
Whole family support
Targeted support for children, young people (age 0-19) and their families include:
- Advice and signposting (via walk in to centres)
- Early Help Assessment: Targeted one to one support for families experiencing problems and needing help who meet specific criteria
- Specialised family support service in schools for students and their families
- Parenting programmes
- Support services for families affected by domestic abuse
- Welfare Rights Advice: drop in and appointment service
- Commissioning of adventure playground provision
- Joint work with social care for families who meet specific criteria
- Family group conferencing service (prevention of family breakdown and entry to care)
- Bespoke commissioning of family and parenting support services
