October half term food offer

Leicester City Council is working in partnership with Samworth Brothers to give eligible families the opportunity to shop for free food and groceries for use over the October half term holiday.

Who can apply?

This offer is for families who have children that meet the following criteria:

  • receive benefits-related free school meals
  • who are in full time school (4 to 16 years)
  • live in Leicester City or attend a city school if they live outside of Leicester

Venue and dates

There will be six pop-up pantry venues across the city to choose from, each one providing parents/carer with the opportunity to collect healthy and nutritious food for the half-term.

  • Saturday 15 October
    • Community Shop Stocking Farm (LE4 2ED)
      Shop 1 - 11am to 12.15pm
      Shop 2 - 12.30pm to 2pm
  • Sunday 16 October
    • Evington Leisure Centre (LE5 6LP)
      11am to 1.30pm
  • Monday 17 October
    • Leicester City Football Club (LE2 7FL)
      Shop 1 - 10am to 11.30am
      Shop 2 - 12noon to 1.30pm

How to register

Places at the venues are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis to those who meet all of the above registration criteria.

Registration closes at midnight on Tuesday 4 October.  

Applications will not be accepted after the closing date.  All forms submitted by the closing date will be processed and a response will be sent to the email address provided on the form. 

Please note:  Even though shopping places are limited, there will be enough food stock to supply successful applicants with fresh fruit, vegetable, bread and groceries that will help towards feeding their children over the school holiday.
