Week long activities

  • One Giant Leap
    Events taking place in October to mark the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing:
    • Bricklive Outer Space trail
      Explore Leicester city centre and locate all 15 of the space-themed LEGO® brick models. 
    • Retro Arcade Games
      Get in touch with your inner gamer and play retro-style computer games inspired by the Moon landing! The games will be hosted on large-scale screens across the city.  Come along, connect your smartphone to take part and have fun, challenge your friends, or try and finish the week with the highest score on a public leaderboard.
    • Museum of the Moon
      See the Moon in Leicester Cathedral.  Museum of the Moon is a very large sculpture of the moon and its surface and a truly awe-inspiring experience.
  • Kids 4 a quid - swimming session
    Public swimming sessions where under 16s can swim for a pound.  View Kids 4 a quid timetables
  • Spooky Space - National Space Centre
    Discover the darker side of science
  • Life on the Battlefield
    Meet medieval knight and find out what life was really like on the battlefield.

    7pm at Leicester Cathedral (under 16s)
  • Enter the Mummy’s Tomb
    The witch of New Walk has taken over the Mummy’s Tomb at New Walk Museum. Do you dare to enter for a chilling tale and trick or treat!

  • Lego Stay and Play
    Netherhall Children, Young People and Family Centre from 10am to 11.30am

  • Haunted Hall
    Join the witches of Guildhall for a frightening family fun at the Haunted Guildhall.  With creepy crafts and treacherous trails, face painting and quizzes. 
    11am to 3pm at Guildhall, Guildhall Lane, Leicester LE1 5FQ
  • Scult in VR
    Put on a VR headset and use an amazing array of tools to create virtual sculptures.  Free drop in session.
    12 noon to 3pm at Phoenix, Midland Street, Leicester, LE1 1TG
  • GraviTrax Demo Zone
    An opportunity to build interactive tracks and experiment with gravity, magnetism and kenetic energy
    12noon to 3pm at Boost Trampoline park (Book a jump session to be involved).

  • Free frightful fun
    There will be plenty of treats and a few tricks in store for youngsters at Haymarket’s Monster Mash party.
    11am to 3pm at the Haymarket shopping Centre, Leicester
  • Story Makers (Everbody's Reading Festival)
    A story making workshop for families with children age 7+
    1pm to 3.30pm at Belgrave Library
  • Haunted House
    Take part in spooky Halloween crafts for families including making Halloween hats and bags. Listen to ghostly stories, or do the scary trail around the Haunted House.  Drop in event £3
  • Overview Effect (One Giant Leap)
    A breath-taking outdoor projection show that celebrates the 1969 moon landing.
  • Enter the Mummy’s Tomb
    11.30am to 4pm at New Walk Museum & Art Gallery
  • Pop up cinema
    Watch a movie with your children at:
    • Thurnby Lodge Children, Young People and Family Centre from 10am
    • Belgrave Children, Young People and Family Centre from 2pm

  • Diwali Delights
    Celebrate Diwali with Beaumont Shopping Centre with free henna tattooing, a Diwali tealight crafting station and a range of performances throughout the day on the main Diwali stage.  11am to 5pm
  • Free Saturday Arts Clubs
    Every Saturday morning, artists and students offer a different art project for children to try and make in a fun two-hour art club for all the family. From mosaics to murals, painting to collages, you can have fun and get as messy as you like.  Clubs run from 10am to 12 noon unless otherwise stated at:
