Childcare registration and advice
The Early Education Development Officers provide support throughout the Ofsted registration process for all types of childcare settings.
The Officers make individual visits and give telephone advice on making an application to register any childcare provision. They also help prepare prospective providers to meet the requirements of the Early Years Register and the Childcare Register including guidance on the revised Early Years Foundation Stage.
Whether you want to register a new setting or extend or alter your provision we can offer support and guidance through this process.
We can provide relevant and up to date regulatory advice to all providers and Early Years Professionals and be available to respond to requests for briefings or presentations on early years topics.
Registering as a childminder
The Officers offer two or three pre-registration visits to your home to:
- Explain the requirements and process of registering as a childminder
- Inform you of the process of applying to Ofsted to register as a childminder and discuss training
- Look at making the home environment safe for young children
- To support you through the process of registration
Working as a childminder means being self employed and managing your own business. You would be advised to assess the need for new childminders in your locality.
If you have read the information about becoming a childminder and would like to go ahead to the next stage and discuss in further the registration process, complete the online enquiry form.
